According to Amazon, I’ve owned Your First Year in Network Marketing since June of 2005. It’s been an invaluable resource as a reference and a training tool, both for myself and the people on my team. If you only purchase one book on network marketing, this is the one to buy.

Think & Grow Rich

Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure. –Napoleon Hill

Think & Grow Rich was first published in 1937, the result of more than 20 years of research into what makes hugely wealthy people so successful. When I first heard about Think & Grow Rich, I was skeptical it would contain anything other than pop-psychology drivel aimed at the get rich quick market. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

There are many avenues to great wealth, and the wildly successful all have their own stories, but there’s not a single one of them that will tell you they’ve achieved their success without a definite purpose, big goals, and a burning desire to be successful. If you’d like to follow in their footsteps, I would recommend studying this book.

As A Man Thinketh

As A Man Thinketh is the one book on this list that I would recommend to anyone and everyone, regardless of their aspirations for success in small business. I have learned more from this little book about the power of thought and its impact on my life than any other book I have read. If you study this short essay closely, you’ll find that it’s source material for many of the most popular positive thinking books that follow, including Think & Grow Rich and the recent, wildly popular book and movie The Secret. While I’ve enjoyed reading other books on this same topic, I’ve not found a single book I value more highly.

How to Win Friends and Influence People

How to Win Friends and Influence People is another book that I avoided for many years, assuming that it would teach me how to manipulate people into liking me just long enough for me to profit financially from the relationship. Boy was I wrong! Reading this book has been influential in my development as a person, as a friend, and as a successful marketer.

One of the most important lessons to learn in network marketing is that people aren’t interested in buying into your business, they’re interested in buying into you! Practical application of the principles learned in this book will help you become the kind of person that people want to invest in.

Lower Your Taxes Big Time

One of the very best reasons to start a small business, any small business, is the ability to save on your taxes every year. A front-page article in the 5/14/09 issue of USA TODAY highlighted what has been a hallmark of our direct sales industry … companies like TLC offer a home-based business that is recession-resistant. 3 Principles for Network Marketing Success

Success in network marketing comes down to a few simple basics backed by a few simple principles. Here are three principles that I consider crucial to success as a network marketer.

Always Be Coachable

Being coachable is one of the most important traits of the successful marketer. Why? Everyone comes to network marketing without a clue as to how to succeed. It’s absolutely crucial that you work with a coach, usually the person that sponsored you into the business, in order to learn how to work the business successfully. If you’re not willing to take direction, encouragement, and the occasional constructive criticism, you’re setting the stage for your own failure.

Believe!

Belief is another crucial success principle. After being coachable, it’s perhaps the next most important principle. Believing in yourself, in your success, in your product, and in you opportunity allows you to make it through the difficult times. Without that belief, you’re liable to throw your hands up and quit as soon as the going gets tough. If you believe with all your heart that you will be successful, no matter what happens, you’ll be able to stay focused and stay motivated regardless of the many challenges that you’ll face.

Be Action Oriented, Not Result Oriented

Success in network marketing comes, in large part, as a result of taking daily action toward growing your business. You must take action in order to succeed, and you must take action regardless of the immediate results of that action! (Of course, you’ve got to take the right action, but that’s what your coach is for.) Success is a marathon, not a sprint, and results don’t always come right away. In fact, the results you’re looking for sometimes don’t appear for quite some time! Remember the right action will always produce the desired results. Stay focused on action, and the results will follow.

Blu Frog Motorsports kicked off its 2009 seasonthroughout Speed Week with a bang at Daytona

International Speedway, introducing our new brand

in America’s biggest week of NASCAR racing!

Our exciting Blu Frog Motorsports week started with past Daytona 500 Champion Derrike Cope driving the No. 76 Blu Frog Energy Dodge in the Gatorade Duel Twin 150 race on Thursday 2/12, showcasing our brand to a National TV audience of millions … and a huge track full of excited NASCAR fans! Derrike has been running NASCAR for over 20+ years and his fans are everywhere … and while giving autographs all week long, Derrike further boosted our brand to all of NASCAR Nation!

The excitement continued under the lights on Friday 2/13, as our No. 74 Blu Frog Energy Dodge driven by Larry Foyt ran way strong in the Camping World Truck race under, coming in 20th … and we were in position to finish a lot higher if we hadn’t gotten collected and all tore up during one of those inevitable NASCAR crashes. Larry and his team made us proud by getting the truck fixed as best they could and coming back out to finish the race on National TV … talk about exposure to millions and millions of people!

Finally, we almost had ANOTHER car in the race on Saturday, when Larry Foyt finished just five one-hundredths of a second behind in qualifying for the Nationwide Series in the No. 56 Blu Frog Energy Chevrolet Monte Carlo. And we actually should have BEEN in the race, because our car ran faster than 6 other cars that got in the race based on last year’s owner’s points! Larry did a great job in the 56 and can’t wait to get back on the track with Blu … we can’t either!

By the time Speed Week was over, Blu Frog Energy was known by everyone at Daytona! The country, heck the world is in a recession! That’s what the doom and gloom media wants you to be buying. Guess what if the world is in a recession; I wouldn’t know because I don’t watch the news, read the paper or listen to talk radio. So I guess I’m living in my own world, which I’m perfectly happy with.

My world seems to be working though. In my world I see that the malls are full, the freeway’s are always packed, movie theaters have tons people spending money on entertainment. I tried to call and get Lakers tickets and they were sold out so this doom and gloom recession isn’t happening in my world and if it were…I chose not to participate! I chose to travel, spend money and buy cars to get money back into our economy. Why don’t you join me? Come and be apart of something bigger than yourself. Come join a team that puts no limitations on you! We say hey you want to earn $500 per month up to over $100,000 per month come and get to work. If you are skeptical that’s ok too! Are friends important?

In network marketing, yes they are. I’ve built the best relationships with people I’ve met sharing this amazing opportunity. You know the type of people you can tell them your worst secrets and they still love you anyway. Yes those types of friends. Also the kind of friend that when you see there name on the caller ID you smile because you love talking to them.

I think these types of friends are great because this would be a lonely business with out them. Who would you have to share your successes with? Plus you all are like minded people that want basically the same thing right? Either time freedom or financial freedom….most of us want both. Plus you get to inspire one another. My sweet wife is in Memphis right now as we speak inspiring others, being inspired and spending time with friends. GREAT friends!

I think network marketing could be called many things like relationship marketing because that’s what you develop, and it’s usually pretty fast! I mean if it wasn’t for Relationship marketing I would have never met Elizabeth and Donald Brown in Memphis who have become some of your closest friends and we love like a brother and sister. Now I’m making a new friend because of the Brown’s; Ryan Rhea. Who knows what kind of friendship we might have because of relationship marketing. We wouldn’t have met Blair and Lane Billings who we had the pleasure of spending a week in Italy with. Michelle is staying at their house right now!

I guess what I’m saying is this might not be your thing and that’s ok we aren’t here to pressure you. I just want you to know that I’ve never been so mentality healthy in my whole life because of the great people I’ve surrounded myself with. I mean name after name pops in my head. Through Michelle’s business I’ve met Denny Callen, Richard Cobey, Jonathan Housel who have joined my Top BluFrog Team and we are becoming very good friends. We are getting really know one another as a matter of fact we are all going to Ft. Worth Texas together for some fun!

I think that is why I fell in love with the social media realm. If it weren’t for Facebook and myspace I wouldn’t have reconnected with great childhood friends. Friends that I had some of my greatest childhood memories with. Rick Cofer, Troy Sanders and I actually have known each other for 34 years but lost track of one another. Now we are back in touch and talk all the time. It makes me feel so great that these guys are back in my life. Rick actually came down to LA and we had a blast! Troy is in a up and coming Rock Band called “So Farr” and I can’t wait to see him. (www.myspace.com/sofarrnation) to see what he’s got going on.
